As you might know Toolwatch decided to team up with a talented graphic designer to create unique illustrations displaying watchmaking icons. We have decided to pay tribute to these iconic timepieces with a bright and elegant pop art look alike style… And of a course our special touch: the Toolwatch signature blue!
The result is outstanding: a cool print that will appeal to every watch geek for sure. The right item for all the clock maniacs for whom having their ticking partners on the wrist is simply not enough.
For this latest poster we wanted to pay tribute to one of our personal favorites: the Seiko SKX009.
Who said the Swiss masters had cool wrist monopoly? Somewhere in the capital city of the Land of the Rising Sun, Nippon watchmakers had been working for decades to deliver one of the coolest diving watches.
The original watch design is actually from the late 70s. The Seiko SKX009 is the thinner case evolution of the iconic 6105-8110 nicknamed the Apocalypse Now or Cpt Willard because you can spot it on Martin Sheen’s wrist in the Coppola’s masterpiece.
Then, the Tokyo brand worked on this timepiece for decades with several versions, before revealing the SKX009 in the late 90s. These weirdly shaped hands, 42mm steel case, diving dial with Luminova indexes, decentered crown and this Pepsi bezel that gives a unique adventurous touch… Well we love it all, even more on the Seiko rubber strap with funny gadroons, definitely our favorite variation!
So let’s sum up: legendary design, Pepsi colors, professional diving watch with self-winding in-house movement made in Japan… And for only a few hundreds of USD! Yep fellows, this is probably your ultimate toolwatch already, so why not displaying it on your wall as well ?
